Tony Robie and company continued to stack talent on Friday when Wyoming's Lane Foard committed to Virginia Tech.
As a freshman, the 174-pounder competed three times last season for the Cowboys, going 9-4 overall. Of his nine wins, he racked up two pins and two technical falls. While in Laramie, Foard finished fourth at the Soldier Salute Tournament and fifth at the Reno Tournament of Champions.
In addition to his folkstyle acumen, Foard has displayed prowess in the freestyle ranks, claiming fifth place in the 79KG bracket at both the 2025 and 2026 US Opens; he was eliminated in the semifinals of the latter tournament by eventual champion and current Hokie, Ryan Burton.
A Reva, Virginia native, Foard wrestled for Benedictine Prep High School, where he won three state titles and was crowned a National Prep Wrestling Champion. He also notched a sixth-place finish at the Super 32 Challenge.
Projecting where Foard fits into the Hokies' lineup is difficult, but because he's competed at several weights in his career, he likely has some flexibility. Sergio Desiante and Jaden Bullock both remain on Virginia Tech's roster after strong 2025-26 campaigns.
Foard has four years of eligibility remaining.
