Running back Khalan Laborn (Virginia Beach, Va./Bishop Sullivan) will announce a verbal commit Saturday at The Opening. Laborn, who has 18 offers, will choose between Florida State, North Carolina and Virginia Tech, his longtime three finalists.Laborn has been Virginia Tech's number 1 running back target while the Seminoles have been in pursuit of him and four-star RB De'Andre Swift. Meanwhile, North Carolina currently has two running back commits and the odds of Laborn committing to the Tar Heels does not seem that good at this point though the fact that they are a finalist is still interesting. The one surprise team not to be named as a finalist is Auburn who was seen as a team that Laborn was high on just a couple of days ago. The Tigers had been making a significant surge in their pursuit of the Bishop Sullivan running back but after gaining a good amount of momentum, Auburn surprisingly isn't a finalist. At this point even with UNC as a finalist, Laborn's recruitment seems to be down to the two schools that have been the frontrunners for most of 2016, Florida State and Virginia Tech. The Seminoles and Hokies have made Laborn a priority with both teams limiting their pursuit of other running backs especially the Hokies who seem to only have two other RB targets after Laborn right now in Jalen Holston and Deon Jackson. Right now, Florida State seems to be the favorite over Virginia Tech but Laborn has not visited either school in a couple months, and his recruitment has had plenty of twists and turns. Zohn Burden and Justin Fuente will likely be the main duo making the final push to try to convince Laborn to commit to the Hokies while Jimbo Fisher and Odell Haggins will look to close and get Laborn to head south. Khalan Laborn's commitment time has arrived and right now, it still seems fairly up in the air as to whether he will be headed to Florida State or Virginia Tech. Update: Damon Sayles of Bleacher Report tweeted out this video of Khalan Laborn naming his top 3. https://twitter.com/DamonSayles/status/751127106575183872 The top three of Virginia Tech, Florida State, and Auburn makes more sense with North Carolina seeming to fade out of contention recently for Laborn. However, the lack of consistency with Auburn being named makes them the longshot while Florida State seems to be the favorite over Virginia Tech though both schools have a very good chance. Saturday could end up being a very good day on the recruiting trail for the Hokies and turn their momentum around after the decommitment of Tyjuan Garbutt earlier this week.
