Hokies Football: Ken Ekanem, Nigel Williams Questionable For Miami Game

The Virginia Tech Hokies are still in control of their own destiny in the ACC Coastal despite losing to Syracuse, but the Hokies face their toughest opponent left on the schedule in the Miami Hurricanes on Thursday in one of the biggest games left in the Coastal. Both teams are coming in off short weeks after suffering their losses on Saturday and the Hokies have a couple starters whose status is in question for Thursday night. https://twitter.com/normwood/status/788506134428676096 The Hokies have a few on the injury report this week headlined by Ken Ekanem and Nigel Williams. Both Ekanem and Williams went down at different points in the game against Syracuse but we did notice Ekanem while we also believe that Williams did return in that game. It is interesting though to see Ekanem and Williams show up on the injury report especially after Isaiah Ford didn't end up on the injury report this past week after tweaking his ankle against North Carolina. Ekanem in particular is surprising since there was no cast, boot, or anything along those lines when he talked to the media this past week. Trevon Hill will most likely start if Ken Ekanem ends up being unable to play while Ricky Walker or Tim Settle will likely start with Steve Sobczak jumping into the two-deep for the game if Williams is unable to play. A loss at defensive tackle wouldn't hurt much given the Hokies' tremendous depth at the spot while losing Ekanem for Hill would significantly hurt the depth and while Hill has been solid this season, he would be a downgrade for this game from Ekanem. As of right now, Ekanem and Williams still seem likely to play but this injury report does bring some doubt ahead of Thursday night's critical ACC Coastal clash in Lane Stadium.
