Kennesaw State Transfer SG James Scott Talks About His Upcoming Virginia Tech Visit

VT Students Against Ole Miss 1
Recently, news broke that Kennesaw State transfer and 6'5'' SG James Scott would be taking an official visit to Virginia Tech on the weekend of the Hokies' Spring Game. We caught up with James Scott to ask him about his transfer process, his Virginia Tech visit, and more. Scott's visit to Virginia Tech is the only school that he currently has scheduled an official visit to. The Kennesaw State transfer also told us that he also has met with coaches from St John's and Nevada. When we asked him he was already set on visiting Virginia Tech, Scott told us that "I really like how they don’t need the best high school prospects to be effective in the conference and tournament which means they recruit what fits their system. I also think that I could fit there." The fact that the Hokies have already secured a visit from Scott is a great start especially given how Scott has received interest from plenty of quality programs including Arizona, Maryland, Clemson, Georgetown, St John's, Nevada, Rhode Island, and others. Scott says he is looking to make his decision by the end of May. What will factor into Scott's decision? He told us that he "wants to definitely be somewhere that I see myself fitting in their system. I want to be somewhere that I could see myself living without basketball because I won’t be able to travel with the team my first year. I also want to be at a place where I could build a relationship with my team and the coaches." Scott would have to sit out next season, but would be eligible to play starting in the 2019-2020 season. That timing could be significant for a Virginia Tech team that will need some more experience at guard with the possibility to have Justin Robinson, Ahmed Hill, and Ty Outlaw all graduating after that season in addition to Nickeil Alexander-Walker being seen as a potential NBA Draft departure after the 2018-2019 season. Having a guy like Scott would help the Hokies deal with a potentially large group of guards leaving after next season. Virginia Tech has put themselves right in the hunt for talented transfer James Scott with a great opportunity coming to make a big push for him.
