2020 Four-Star DB Jordan Morant "Really Looking Into" Virginia Tech

Bryce Watts 1
Earlier this spring, 2020 four-star DB Jordan Morant told us that Virginia Tech was among four schools standing out in his recruitment. Since then, not too much has changed for Morant with Virginia Tech continuing to be around the top of the list for him. "Some schools that I’ve been really looking into are Penn State, Ohio State, Michigan, Rutgers, and Virginia Tech," Morant told us when asked what schools are standing out in his recruitment. Why is Morant really looking into VT? "I’m really looking into VT because of how good they are academically especially in the engineering area. They have a beautiful campus and a great football atmosphere," Morant said. Morant also added that the Hokies are a "top choice" for him and that part of the reason for that is because of the "great coaching staff" and because Virginia Tech is a "great school academically and athletically." While the recruiting rankings have Morant listed as a safety, the New Jersey star told us that the Hokies and others are recruiting him as a cornerback. Given how most teams look for long, rangy cornerbacks; Morant fits the bill well with a great frame at 6'1'' and 195 pounds. Looking ahead, Morant told us that he will be visiting Penn State this weekend, but also added that he hopes to visit Virginia Tech on a game weekend this fall, which would be his first visit to Blacksburg. The Hokies have made New Jersey a priority on the recruiting trail under Justin Fuente hosting a satellite camp in the Garden State every year while also pursuing several top New Jersey talents. The Hokies have also had a good amount of success in New Jersey pursuing top talents including 2019 commit Nyquee Hawkins. Virginia Tech is in a good position for Jordan Morant early on and should get an opportunity to impress him in Blacksburg this fall.
