After news of Holmon Wiggins interviewing at Alabama broke earlier this week, ESPN's Adam Rittenberg reported tonight that Wiggins is expected to be named as the Crimson Tide's next WRs coach.

Wiggins was the Hokies' WRs coach for the past three seasons while also being on Justin Fuente's staff during his four seasons at Memphis. Rittenberg's report also indicated that former Maryland RBs coach Jafar Williams is a name under consideration to replace Wiggins. The news about Wiggins leaving Virginia Tech was broken by Eric Kumah when he announced his decision to transfer from Virginia Tech in part because of Wiggins' departure.
Wiggins has done a tremendous job in his role as WRs coach starting with the job he did with the talented trio of receivers he inherited in Isaiah Ford, Bucky Hodges, and Cam Phillips. Since then, Wiggins has helped rebuild VT's wide receivers into arguably the deepest position. Additionally, Wiggins has proven to be a very good recruiter as shown by the talented receivers to sign with VT during his time at VT including consensus four-star recruits Tre Turner and Jaden Payoute.
If Jafar Williams is to be Wiggins' replacement, he does bring experience to the table coaching wide receivers along with playing that position at Maryland. Before his lone season with the Terps, Williams spent two seasons as the WRs coach at Rutgers with 3 seasons as Purdue's RBs coach before that.
Given Williams' experience coaching RBs and WRs, it remains to be seen whether Williams will coach WRs or if VT could consider bringing him on to coach RBs with current RBs coach Zohn Burden moving to Holmon Wiggins' spot, the position he held before Justin Fuente's arrival.
