2024 offensive tackle Anthonie Knapp has emerged as one of the best offensive linemen in the state of Georgia with the Hokies being the first Power 5 to offer him back in the fall before other prominent programs like Penn State, North Carolina, Duke, Georgia Tech, and more have joined the Hokies.
Knapp is clearly a top offensive line target for the Hokies this cycle with the Roswell, GA native having a great visit this past weekend as he told us.
"The visit was great. I loved everything about it and had a great time," Knapp said.
He had this to say about why it was a great visit for him.
"Personally I love the coaches and staff, they were amazing and I had a great deal of respect for each of them," Knapp said.
Knapp was primarily around offensive line coach Joe Rudolph as you would expect. The time and conversations with Rudolph went quite well as Knapp told us.
"The conversations were great. He does an amazing job at showing and explaining how he would develop me as a player, where he sees me position wise, and why Virginia Tech is so special," Knapp said.
One of the unique things that Knapp got to experience during his visit is the passion of Hokie fans and the pride in VT that emanates through Blacksburg.
"I would say the fan base for sure. After going to a basketball game and walking around the campus and town, it’s easy to feel the pride every one has about VT," Knapp said about what was unique about his visit.
There's no doubt that Knapp has blown up since he previously told us that the Hokies were the leaders in his recruitment, but Tech got in early and definitely has more long-standing relationships with him. Combine that with the fact that this was his third visit to Blacksburg and there's a lot to like about where Tech stands for Knapp.
So how did this visit impact his recruitment and where VT stands in it?
"This visit definitely made me happy that Virginia Tech is one of my options. But seriously, I can't wait to be back," Knapp said.
Virginia Tech continues to impress Anthonie Knapp who after 3 visits, is looking forward to getting back to Blacksburg soon again.
