2027 Four-Star DE Andrew Rogers Decommits From Virginia Tech

Andrew Rogers 1 VT Visit Vandy 2025

2027 four-star DE Andrew Rogers out of Greensboro, NC announced today that he is decommitting from Virginia Tech.

Rogers is now the fifth recruit to at least decommit from Virginia Tech since the dismissal of Brent Pry, joining four-star OT Thomas Wilder, three-star DL Kamdon Gillespie, three-star LB Joshua Pittman (who immediately flipped to Pitt), and 2027 three-star QB Ben Musser. His decision leaves the Hokies without a commit in the 2027 class at the moment.

Rogers had felt like a soft commit for weeks now after taking visits to Tennessee and NC State during the month of September followed by a decision to reclassify back to the 2027 class after moving up to the 2026 class prior to his VT commitment. He also took visits to Georgia and South Carolina in October before making this decision to officially decommit from the Hokies. He did visit VT back for the Vanderbilt game, but things obviously began trending towards a decommitment as the Brent Pry tenure came to an end.

His departure is not a surprise at all given his visits elsewhere, second reclassification decision, and the dismissal of Pry. It still remains disappointing to lose a player of his caliber though even with the coaching change that VT is going through currently.

Rogers will most likely be a priority target for whoever Virginia Tech's next coach will be with it being a positive that the Greensboro native previously chose to reclassify back to the 2027 class rather than remain in the 2026 class, giving the Hokies more time.
