Virginia Tech's 2026 recruiting class took another hit Monday as three-star LB Joshua Pittman out of Suffolk, VA announced Monday that he has flipped his commitment from the Hokies to Pittsburgh.

Pittman becomes the fourth player to at least decommit since Brent Pry's departure along with four-star OT Thomas Wilder, three-star DL Kamdon Gillespie, and 2027 three-star QB Ben Musser. Pittman's departure leaves the Hokies with eight commitments in their 2026 class including only two from defensive players in three-star DB Zaevion Cleveland and three-star DE Kamren Johnson.
His decision comes after Pittman had received new offers from NC State and USF, and taken official visit to Pitt and USF since the dismissal of Brent Pry.
Pittman's decommitment is obviously a disappointing loss, especially with him flipping to another ACC program. However, it shouldn't be a shock that he has chose to flip his commitment elsewhere given the ongoing head coaching search for the Hokies.
Whenever VT hires its new head coach, it wouldn't be surprising if Tech makes a heavy push to try to flip Pittman back to the Hokies.
