Virginia Tech hosted a talented group of recruits on campus yesterday for their opening day of spring practice including one of the best wide receivers in the 2025 class, Cameron Sparks out of Chattanooga, TN.
Sparks' visit to Blacksburg went well as he told us.
"It was cool. I met a lot of the coaches for the first time so it was great," Sparks said.
He also expanded on why his visit to Tech was so enjoyable.
"It was just nice to see the campus and to spend some time with the coaches," Sparks said.
So what did Sparks specifically do while on his visit?
"I was able to sit through the position meeting before practice, then we watched practice and did a tour around campus," Sparks said.
His trip included spending time with his area recruiters Shawn Quinn and Chris Marve plus WRs coach Fontel Mines. He had this to say about his time with Mines.
"We just talked about how practice was, and how the offense is looking," Sparks said.
He had this to say about his time with Quinn.
"Coach Quinn and I talked about the recruiting process as a whole, and we just talked about trying to set a date up to get back on campus for a game," Sparks said.
He had this to say about his time with Marve.
"Coach Marve and I talked about practice tempo being important," Sparks said. "He also beat me in a game of Madden lol.
While there is plenty of time for serious football and life conversations, there's also time on these visits to have a little fun even if the outcome was not what Sparks was hoping for on the Madden front.
So how did this visit impact his recruitment and where VT stands in it?
"The visit definitely boosted my understanding of Virginia Tech," Sparks said.
There may be a long way to go, but the Hokies made a great first impression on elite 2025 WR Cameron Sparks.
