Four-Star LB Xavier Simmons Flips Commitment From Virginia Tech to Missouri

Helmet 1

Virginia Tech received some surprising news this afternoon as four-star LB Xavier Simmons announced that he has flipped his commitment from the Hokies to Missouri.

Simmons was a major addition for the Hokies back in mid-June and was the first of four aggregate four-star recruits (247, ESPN, Rivals, Composite) prior to his decision. His decommitment leaves the Hokies without a linebacker committed this cycle and only one commit from North Carolina in D'Andre Martin, who currently plays at Richmond private school Life Christian Academy.

With Simmons off the board, the push to land talented in-state LB Tyler Banks, cousin of former VT LB star Rayshard Ashby, will only increase even more beyond the heavy push that it has been for months. Additionally, Tech may also increase their push for three-star LBs Reid Pulliam and Austin Howell if Tech is looking to take two linebackers this class or shift that scholarship to another position like defensive end or for a JUCO/transfer target.

We will have more as this story develops.
