Four-star SG Juke Harris is one of Virginia Tech's top overall targets with the consensus top 50 national recruit in the 2024 class visiting the Hokies for their recent 74-68 win over then #6 UVA. Unsurprisingly, his visit went well as he told us.
"It was good, amazing atmosphere," Harris said.
He had this to say about what made it a good visit for him.
"The campus, how much coach (Mike) Young was around, the crowd chanting ”We Want Juke”, and they got a good win," Harris said.
Tech fans were clearly aware that Harris was in the building as you would expect given how good of a chance Tech has at landing him at the moment. Those chants also meant a lot to the Salisbury, NC standout.
"It meant a lot, made me feel very welcomed," Harris said.
So what were some of the things that Harris got to do while on his visit?
"I toured the campus, talked to the academic people, watched the game, and went out to eat with the players and coaching staff," Harris said.
He added that it was "nice" to be around the team postgame and that there was a lot of "good energy" as you would expect.
As mentioned above, Harris got to spend some time with head coach Mike Young and had this to say about how it went.
"He talked about how well I fit in with the program, and how I can come in as a freshman and play or possibly start," Harris said.
There's no doubt that this visit went well for Harris but how did it impact his recruitment and where VT stands in it?
"It impacts my recruitment a lot," Harris said. "It shows I can play my game, and it won't be limited."
Tech has won more big games this year with Juke Harris in attendance for their wins over UNC and UVA, and being impressed both times. Now, the Hokies are hoping that starting in 2024-25, Harris will be helping the Hokies extend home winning streaks over the Tar Heels and Cavaliers.
If Tech continues to recruit him as they are, they'll have a great chance of making that reality.
