Virginia Tech’s slow, rough start to the 2026 recruiting cycle got worse today as the Hokies lost a commitment from four-star WR Carnell Warren out of South Carolina.
Warren committed to the Hokies back in January and had been the headline name of a small class so far. His departure leaves the Hokies with only two commitments from three-star LB Joshua Pittman and K Will Love.
While the Hokies will certainly keep recruiting Warren, it doesn’t seem likely at all that he will eventually recommit to VT.
Four-star WR Travis Johnson out of the 757 remains a top WR target while three-star WR Jaire Richburg out of North Carolina and three-star WR Jayden Kitchens out of Maryland remain names to monitor. Johnson is set to take an official visit next weekend while Richburg and Kitchens have taken VT official visits previously.
VT also will likely look at trying to see if they can get traction for a flip with various in-state WRs including four-star Davion Brown (Penn State), four-star Dyzier Carter (Rutgers), and three-star Amare Gough (Syracuse) though all three of those will clearly be uphill battles.
We will have more as this story develops.
