Virginia Tech has made some more noise in the transfer portal this week as they've landed a commitment from Hawaii CB Caleb Brown.

Brown is the third transfer portal addition for the Hokies along with North Dakota State DT Kody Huisman and West Virginia OL Gavin Crawford.

The 6'1'' Brown had 24 tackles including 1.5 for loss plus seven pass breakups and one forced fumble. He earned a 77.1 PFF grade this past season and only allowed 22 catches for 192 yards on 40 total targets, showing that he's ready to make the jump to the power conference level.

He has one year of eligibility remaining and should immediately battle Thomas Williams, Joshua Clarke (who has injury questions coming off the Spring Game), and others for the second starting cornerback job opposite Dante Lovett. He may be able to get an additional year or two due to his time at the JUCO ranks, but the court case started by Diego Pavia in going, with Pavia and other JUCOs able to return due to a preliminary injunction combined with a temporary rule for 2025 put out by the NCAA.

The Hokies had brought in a veteran cornerback during the winter portal window in Isaiah Brown-Murray However, with VT evolving into more of a true 4-2-5 that utilizes Brown-Murray as a starting nickel, the Hokies needed to add some more cornerback depth given the increased demand on that room, and Brown does just that at a minimum.

This is great recruiting work in the portal by the Hokies as Brown was one of the best cornerbacks available in the portal and had a decent amount of Power 4 interest including Florida State and Virginia. However, the Hokies were able to get him on campus yesterday (as I first reported) and able to lock down his commitment before he went anywhere else for a visit.
