Khalil Herbert returned a kickoff after Liberty's opening touchdown, but that will be the only action for him in this game as he suffered a hamstring injury and will miss the remainder of the game.
Virginia Tech has announced that Khalil Herbert is OUT for the rest of the game with a hamstring injury #Hokies

Herbert has been one of the best running backs in America this season and a major catalyst for Tech's running game having a renaissance unlike what we've seen in a while in Blacksburg.
With Herbert out, expect Raheem Blackshear to be the primary ball carrier with Jalen Holston being the #2 running back. Keshawn King is also out with Tahj Gary and Marco Lee among the potential RB options after Blackshear and Holston. Blackshear and Holston are most likely to take over as Tech's kick returners in this game with Herbert out.
This comes as Tech may also be without starting tight end James Mitchell who has not played yet with the reasons for that being unknown at this point in time. Nick Gallo has taken over the primary tight end responsibilities with Drake DeIuliis also receiving some playing time so far. However, nothing has been stated by Virginia Tech on Mitchell's status today.
We will have more as this story develops.
