Middleweight Nicholas Garcia has committed to Virginia Tech, per sources. The 132-pound Illinois native is the No. 25 recruit in the Class of 2026, according to FloWrestling. Garcia competed for powerhouse Marmion Academy in Aurora, Illinois, where was a three-time IHSA 3A State Champion, four-time IHSA 3A State Placer/All-State, and four-time IHSA 3A State Qualifier. In addition, Garcia is a two-time Fargo All-American thanks to a fifth place finish in 2024 and a runner-up finish last year. He's also a two-time place-winner at Ironman, securing eighth-place and bronze in 2023 and 2025, respectively.
Garcia visited Blacksburg this weekend after de-committing from Illinois. Virginia Tech beat out Michigan for his commitment. He'll likely wrestle at anywhere from 125 to 141 pounds, although this calculus could change in the event of injuries to different wrestlers at the bottom of the lineup.
With his addition, the Hokies' lowerweight ranks continue to stack talent. In addition to returning All-Americans Eddie Ventresca, Aaron Seidel, Collin Gaj, and Caleb Henson, they welcome the top recruit in the Class of 2026, Bo Bassett, and top-50 recruits Revin Dickman (No. 28) and Alex Rozas (No. 53) to campus this fall.
