Punter Oscar Bradburn has been rewarded the honor for now the third time in his Virginia Tech career. The junior punter has earned this honor as he has been putting up impressive numbers for the Hokies early in the 2019 season.
Bradburn is currently ranked second in the nation and first in the ACC with gross punting average at 50.1 yards. The numbers don’t stop there for the Australian as he ranks second in the nation with seven 50+ yard punts Additionally, seven of his thirteen punts have been downed inside the 20.
Bradburn currently has the two longest punts in the ACC this season, 69 yards vs. ODU (9/7) and 66 yards vs. Furman (9/14). Overall, he has recorded 651 yards on the thirteen punts for the Hokies and has played a significant role at pinning Virginia Tech’s opponents back near their endzone in crucial situations.
Bradburn has seen a major improvement in his punting average compared to his two prior seasons with the Hokies as he averaged 42.4 yards in 2017 and 42.6 yards in 2018.
While the Hokies offense has been struggling lately, the punting by Bradburn has been essential at controlling the field in the favor of the Hokies.
