Purdue transfer G Sophie Swanson has committed to Virginia Tech, becoming the Hokies’ first transfer addition of the offseason.
Swanson spent the first two seasons of her collegiate career with the Boilermakers and will have two years of eligibility remaining plus a redshirt. The 5’10’’ guard made eight starts over the course of 29 appearances this past season, averaging 8.9 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in 19.4 minutes per game while shooting 36.3% from the field and 81.5% from the free-throw line.
Her commitment adds a boost of experience to the Hokies’ depth on the wing. She projects as a rotational depth piece who seems likely for a 10-15 minute role off the bench at minimum.
She visited Blacksburg this past weekend along with Bucknell star Ashley Sofilkanich (as I first reported) and Wake Forest’s Demeara Hinds as reported by WBB Insider Skim Milkey.
