This comes after Burmeister threw for 1,960 yards, 14 touchdowns, 4 interceptions, and a 55.7% completion rate while running for 521 yards and 2 touchdowns in 12 games this season. The report also states that Burmeister will not play in the Pinstripe Bowl, leaving the Hokies with only 2 scholarship quarterbacks for that game in Connor Blumrick and Tahj Bullock.
Burmeister has been a fighter during his time at Virginia Tech and though he had some big moments this season, it's clear that the Hokies need to make an upgrade at QB looking ahead to next season.
With Burmeister now transferring, Virginia Tech's QB need has only grown with Incarnate Word star QB Cameron Ward, a four-star transfer according to 247 Sports, already having an offer from the Hokies and certainly a top transfer recruiting priority at the moment.
We will have more as this story develops.
