Virginia Tech’s final big recruiting weekend of June continues to prove fruitful as the Hokies landed a commitment today from three-star DE Zeke Chinwike out of Green Run HS in Virginia Beach, VA.

Chinwike chose the Hokies over West Virginia, East Carolina, JMU, Troy, Marshall, Connecticut, and others. He is the seventh commit from Virginia for the Hokies this cycle including the third from his new high school Green Run along with three-star WR Jayden Anderson and three-star DB Knahlij Harrell. He is Tech’s second defensive line commit in the 2025 class joining three-star DT Christian Evans.
When Tech offered Chinwike in early May, he quickly rose up Tech’s board to be a priority defensive end. Since then, the Hokies have been in the driver’s seat for his recruitment hosting him on a pair of visits in June including an official visit this past weekend.
Tech’s work repairing relationships and replanting the flag in the 757 was on full display here with Chinwike immediately setting a visit to VT after the Hokies offered to him. It’s hard to imagine something like that happening for the previous staff and shows the greater trust in VT from the 757.
Even though Chinwike just transferred to Green Run HS, the Hokies are clearly building a pipeline at one of the best programs in VA with four commits in the past two cycles. This follows up comments Brent Pry made earlier in his tenure where he said that there would be some elite HS programs where he’d want to take at least one recruit from said elite program every year, with Green Run delivering that along with Highland Springs in Richmond and DeMatha Catholic in the Washington D.C. area.
With Chinwike on board, Tech still is looking to add 1-2 more defensive ends though you could see more of a hybrid DE/DT guy for one of those spots as well. Three-star DE Sherrod Henderson out of North Carolina and three-star DE Yvan Kemajou out of Maryland visited this past weekend and are named to watch along with DL Sidney Stewart out of Maryland who visited Blacksburg earlier in June.
