Virginia Tech may have only hosted one recruit on an official visit last weekend, but that weekend will have a 100% commit rate, as three-star DT Christian Evans out of Ashburn, VA has committed to the Hokies.

Evans has chosen the Hokies over North Carolina and Virginia who had hosted him on official visits, Oklahoma who was previously set to host him on an official visit this weekend, and other offers including Penn State, Michigan State, Pittsburgh, Duke, Georgia Tech, Boston College, Indiana, and others.
He is the Hokies’ first defensive line commit of this class and the sixth in-state commitment joining four-star LB Brett Clatterbaugh, three-star DBs Knahlij Harrell and Sheldon Robinson, three-star WR Jayden Anderson, and three-star OT Carter Stallard.
The Hokies didn’t offer Evans till mid-April but once they did, Tech made him a top priority at defensive tackle and climbed right into the hunt, pushing Boston College off his official visit schedule. Tech obviously built on that from there to surge from being a later offer to landing his commitment prior to an Oklahoma official visit that can be assumed to be canceled now with his commitment.
Defensive line coach J.C. Price continues to prove to be one of the Hokies’ top recruiters consistently landing many of his top defensive line targets against strong competition. Evans is the latest example of this with the Hokies holding off some regional rivals in UVA and UNC plus some other large powers looking to poach in Oklahoma and Penn State.
We will have more as this story develops.
