Three-Star DB Sheldon Robinson Commits to Virginia Tech

Sheldon Robinson 1 VT Visit March 2024

Virginia Tech's first big official visit weekend of June has proven fruitful as the Hokies landed a commitment from three-star DB Sheldon Robinson out of Northern Virginia's Woodberry Forest School.

Robinson chose the Hokies over Vanderbilt who hosted him on an official visit, UVA and Duke who were scheduled to host him on official visits, and additional offers from Michigan State, Maryland, West Virginia, Pittsburgh, Georgia Tech, Minnesota, Wake Forest, Indiana, Northwestern, and others.

Robinson is the second DB commit in this class along with three-star Knahlij Harrell out of Virginia Beach and is the fifth in-state commit for this class along with Harrell, four-star LB Brett Clatterbaugh from Culpeper, three-star WR Jayden Anderson from Virginia Beach, and three-star OT Carter Stallard from Christiansburg.

This commitment comes after he took an official visit to the Hokies this past weekend. He had this to say about how his official visit to Virginia Tech went.

"It was great, my family and I really enjoyed ourselves," Robinson said.

Clearly, his official visit played a major role in his decision to commit to the Hokies, especially since he was planning on taking two more official visits to Duke and UVA after this one.

To land Robinson's commitment now and cancel his remaining official visits to a pair of ACC rivals is a big recruiting victory for the Hokies. Tech has also struggled to gain any foothold at his school Woodberry Forest over the years while UVA seemed to do fairly well with many of the in-state Power 4 level players developed there. This is a big recruiting victory for that reason as well ahead of a 2026 cycle where two of the best recruits in Virginia go to Woodberry Forest in four-star RB Savion Hiter and four-star WR Dyzier Carter.

The Hokies do seem likely to take 1-2 more safeties in this recruiting with four-star 757 DBs Messiah Delhomme and Kendall Daniels Jr, and four-star S JaDon Blair out of North Carolina being priorities regardless of numbers.
