Three-Star LB Chris Cole Recaps "Great" Virginia Tech Spring Practice Visit

Chris Cole VT Visit March 2023

Talented three-star LB Chris Cole out of Salem, VA has taken lots of visits to Blacksburg over the past several months with his most recent trip coming last week. His latest visit to Blacksburg went quite well as he told us.

"It was great, I always get a lot of love from VT! It's a fantastic program with an amazing staff! I always have a great visit every time," Cole said.

His visit was quite busy as he shared with us.

"We sat in on team meetings in the AM then watched the mid morning spring practice, ate lunch with the coaches and staff, and then finished the day off with a presentation from (Head) Coach (Brent) Pry," Cole said. "Also, towards the end of the visit, me and (4* WR) Chanz Wiggins took photos in the special edition Hokie Stone jerseys."

His visits have also overlapped with four-star WR Chanz Wiggins out of King George, VA a couple of times now. So we asked him what his relationship was like with Wiggins and whether this was a coincidence or not.

"Definitely by coincidence, I believe that we are both being heavily recruited by Tech ( Coach Quinn) He is a cool guy, reminds me a lot of myself, met him at the basketball game we both attended on 1/24,"

Cole is definitely accurate in saying that he and Chanz Wiggins are being heavily recruited by Tech as two of the Hokies' overall priority targets for this class out of the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Getting to sit in on a team meeting was one of the more unique parts of this visit compared to other VT visits he's taken having to say on what it was like experiencing a VT team meeting.

"It was a great experience. It gave me the chance to see the coaches' teaching style. I also learned more about their defensive strategies," Cole said.

Cole also got to spend in the LBs room along with time with the team doctor having this to say about his time in the LBs position meeting.

"It was a great learning experience. We went over install and what they had planned for the day," Cole said.

The time with the team doctor was particularly great for Cole given his medically-focused academic aspirations.

"He was very informative. He gave me suggestions on how the medical degree process works and offered me the opportunity to shadow In his office," Cole said.

He also spent a lot of time with defensive coordinator/LBs coach Chris Marve and sam LBs/nickels coach Shawn Quinn during his visit having this to say about his time with Quinn and Marve.

"I always have a great time when visiting VT. Coach Quinn talked about how much of a great impact I could make on defense, and how he would love to help me develop my skills. He loves the way I’m so versatile and fast. Coach Quinn and Coach Marve believe I have great potential and character which is what VT is looking for in their student athletes," Cole said.

So how did this latest visit to Blacksburg impact his recruitment and where Virginia Tech stands in it?

"This visit was more detailed and answered some questions I had about student housing, class schedules and academic support. VT is a great in-state Program that I respect and Coach Pry is running a tight ship! Virginia Tech is the powerhouse program in Virginia and stands high on my recruitment list!" Cole said.

Virginia Tech may be facing tons of tough competition for talented Salem, VA LB Chris Cole, but the Hokies are putting up a strong fight in pursuit of one of their top LB targets.
