Three-Star OL Layth Ghannam Commits to Virginia Tech

Layth Ghannam VT Spring Game 2022

Virginia Tech made a big splash on the recruiting trail this morning as three-star OL and priority target Layth Ghannam committed to the Hokies.

Ghannam chose the Hokies over finalists in-state West Virginia, North Carolina, and N.C. State with his offer list also including Cincinnati, South Carolina, Indiana, Vanderbilt, and more. Ghannam is now the fourth OL commit this cycle for Tech alongside three-star OTs Hannes Hammer and Gabriel Arena plus three-star OL Lance Williams with Ghannam projecting as a tackle as well.

This is a big time recruiting victory for the Hokies as Ghannam has been one of Tech's overall offensive targets since he was offered back in January with Ghannam immediately becoming a priority for Joe Rudolph. Tech made strong impressions on both of his visits in late January and for the Spring Game that clearly paid off here.

What makes this even more impressive is this comes after he had taken official visits to North Carolina and West Virginia with the Morgantown official coming last weekend. His official visit to Blacksburg is scheduled for the fourth weekend of June so to land his commitment now despite those officials elsewhere including to the in-state Power 5 school just last week is an impressive close by Rudolph and the Hokies.

We will have more as this story develops.
