Virginia Tech has landed their top RB target as three-star RB Jeff Overton Jr out of Northern Virginia has committed to the Hokies.
Overton chose the Hokies over fellow finalists South Carolina, Maryland, and Virginia where he took official visits in addition to VT, along with offers from Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State, Tennessee, NC State, West Virginia, Duke, Wake Forest, Syracuse, Pittsburgh, Boston College, and more.
Overton is the first RB commit of this class and the ninth commit from Virginia in the 2025 class. He is also the fourth new commit from last weekend’s visitors joining three-star LB Noah Chambers, three-star DE Zeke Chinwike, and three-star OL Nathaniel Wright.
Overton has been a priority offensive target for a while now with the Hokies constantly at the forefront of his recruitment. Even as schools like Ohio State got involved at points in his recruitment, Tech remained at the forefront on their way to landing his commitment.
With Overton on board, I’m not expecting them to take another running back unless the right opportunity were to come up.
We will have more as this story develops.
