Virginia Tech continued their strong end of June on the recruiting trail as they landed a commitment from three-star OL Nathaniel Wright out of Woodbridge, VA.
The 6’5’’, 275-pound Wright chose the Hokies over other offers from Pittsburgh, Wake Forest, Duke, JMU, Liberty, Old Dominion, East Carolina, Connecticut, and others
He is the eighth in-state commit this cycle and the second offensive line commit along with three-star OT Carter Stallard out of Christiansburg, VA. He is also the third new commitment from recruits who visited last weekend joining three-star LB Noah Chambers and three-star DE Zeke Chinwike.
Wright had this to say about why he chose the Hokies.
“They always showed me love,” Wright said.
Wright has been high on Virginia Tech’s offensive line board for months with the Hokies being the clear frontrunner since late in the spring. Pittsburgh also was fairly heavily involved as well for Wright, but the Northern Virginia OL only took one official visit which sealed the deal for the Hokies.
Wright confirmed that his official visit played a big factor in his decision to choose the Hokies.
“It was a very big factor, because you really got to be around the players, coaches, and community,” Wright said.
With Wright on board, Tech seems likely to take at least one more offensive lineman this cycle with three-star OL Michael Gibbs out of Wilmington, NC being a name to watch. Tech is trending towards another small offensive line class, which may put pressure on the Hokies to bring in a large, high-level OL class next recruiting cycle especially with Virginia being loaded with talent in that class.
