The final recruiting weekend of June has already proven to be fruitful for Virginia Tech as three-star LB Noah Chambers out of Burtonsville, MD has committed to the Hokies.

Chambers chose the Hokies over in-state Maryland who hosted him on an official visit last weekend plus other offers from Rutgers, Syracuse, Pittsburgh, Indiana, Boston College, and others. He is the first commit from Maryland this class and the second linebacker commit along with four-star LB Brett Clatterbaugh. He is also the second public commitment of the day for VT joining three-star QB AJ Brand.
This is a big regional recruiting victory for the Hokies to land a DeMatha Catholic standout over Maryland who the Terps were clearly prioritizing, which included an official visit to College Park last week. However, Chambers told us that he had an "amazing" official visit to Virginia Tech this weekend that clearly pushed the Hokies over the edge to land his commitment.
Chambers has been a priority linebacker target for several months and to land him over in-state Maryland is a strong recruiting victory for VT. Closing him out on his official visit is also an impressive closing job by Brent Pry and Chris Marve. It’s also fair to assume that former DeMatha head coach and VT RBs coach Elijah Brooks likely played a big role in landing Chambers as well.
Chambers profiles to fit one of Tech’s primary linebacker positions with it to be determined whether that is the Mike or Will spot once he arrives on campus.
With Chambers on board, the Hokies are almost done at linebacker with adding three-star Brennan Johnson, who could fill that STAR LB role in this class, being the last target. The Hokies do appear to be the favorite for Johnson but if he were to end up elsewhere, I would be a little surprised if VT took another linebacker at this time.
