As spring football got under way, Virginia Tech hosted several talented recruits including three-star safety Tyler Butts-Baker out of Virginia Beach who received an offer from the Hokies today.
After a great visit today! Blessed to say I have received my 12th D1 offer from Virginia Tech!!!🧡🤎 pic.twitter.com/4abtPEUzwW— Tyler Butts-Baker (@TylerBaker_2005) March 16, 2023
He had this to say about his reaction to receiving a Virginia Tech offer.
"Very excited! To sit down with (head) Coach (Brent) Pry and for him to say I had an opportunity at Virginia Tech meant everything in the moment," Butts-Baker said.
As you can tell, he received the offer during a conversation with head coach Brent Pry which went well as a whole as he told us.
"It was a great conversation explaining more of the program, what’s the standard, my ideal study/degree, and why I was offered a scholarship," Butts-Baker said.
That was far from the only thing to happen on his visit which went well as he shared with us.
"It was a great visit. I love the atmosphere! It was a very friendly space and beautiful place! Love the vibe at the practice, was very competitive while also covering up and teaching from mistakes that were made," Butts-Baker said.
So what did he do during his enjoyable visit?
"In the morning, first thing I went to was the practice, then secondly was the campus tour, and then we sat in the players' lounge to get something to eat while playing the games inside the facility," Butts-Baker said.
His visit included spending time with his potential collegiate position coach if he were to choose the Hokies, safeties coach Pierson Prioleau. He had this to say about his time with the former Super Bowl champion.
"I had a great time meeting Coach (Pierson) Prioleau and all the conversations felt very genuine and welcoming," Butts-Baker said.
So how did this visit and offer impact his recruitment and where Virginia Tech stands in it?
"This visit will be a heavy influence in my recruitment having a top 8! They will definitely be a school I will be interested in playing at! And I will continue to build relationships with the coaches," Butts-Baker said.
Virginia Tech is right in the hunt for Tyler Butts-Baker after impressing him on his latest trip to Blacksburg.
