Three-Star TE Jackson Carver Building "Good" Relationship With Virginia Tech OC Tyler Bowen

After choosing to take a post-grad year and reclassify to the 2023 class, three-star Jackson Carver has emerged as one of the top tight end recruits in the country east of the Mississippi River.

That has led to his recruitment taking off significantly with many extending offers including Virginia Tech. Since then, the Hokies have stayed very involved in his recruitment led by offensive coordinator/TEs coach Tyler Bowen as Carver told us.

"Coach Bowen reached out at the end of January, and we have text back and forth quite a bit and have been on a couple phone calls, so I’d say about weekly," Carver said.

Carver is also building a strong relationship with Bowen who gave Carver some advice and helped him choose a post-grad school.

"It is good, he assisted me in finding the right post grad school, and we are still just in the beginning of creating a relationship," Carver said.

So where do the Hokies currently stand in his recruitment? This is what Carver had to say when we asked him about that.

"I'm definitely very interested in learning more about Virginia Tech. But as of now, I don't have any order of favorites," Carver said.

Looking ahead, Carver told us that he is definitely looking at taking a visit to Virginia Tech in the not too distant future. That may come in April or later as Carver has visits currently has March visits scheduled for LSU, Kentucky, Wisconsin, Pittsburgh, Iowa, and Boston College.

Additionally, Carver does have an idea of his timeline for trimming down his list though none specifically for that or making a decision.

"I don’t have any timeline and I definitely don’t want to rush a decision, but ideally I want to have it trimmed down by summer," Carver said.

Virginia Tech likely won't take a large TE class after bringing in multiple this past cycle, but it wouldn't be surprising to see the Hokies try to get at least one with Jackson Carver emerging as a top target and Tyler Bowen building a strong relationship with Carver.
