Virginia Tech's recent 2021 recruiting surge continued today as the Hokies landed a big commitment from three-star DT Tyas Martin.
Tyas Martin is the Hokies' sixth commit in a class that includes 4* QB Dematrius Davis, 4* WR Latrell Neville, 3* ATH/CB Nykelius Johnson, 3* DB Jalen Hoyle, and 3* LB Will Johnson. Martin is also the first commit from the state of Arkansas since WR Henri Murphy signed with Tech after a year at the JUCO level.
Martin chose the Hokies over a solid offer list that also includes Tennessee, Virginia, and Kansas.
The addition of Martin is a great example of how the Hokies are looking to add more traditional size along the defensive line with Martin being listed at 6'3'' and 315 pounds.
What may be most impressive about the Hokies landing Martin is that he hasn't visited Virginia Tech to our knowledge, a testament to the relationship-building work the coaching staff has done for the top recruit in Arkansas according to Rivals.
We will have more as this story develops.
