Virginia Tech's recruiting momentum slowed a little today as three-star DT Tyas Martin decommitted from the Hokies.

Martin's decommitment leaves the Hokies with one defensive line commitment from three-star DE Mattheus Carroll though the Hokies also have a commitment from three-star ATH Keli Lawson who could also end up at defensive end.

Martin's decommitment shouldn't be too surprising given the fact that he has never visited Blacksburg in person. He likely will remain a top defensive tackle target for Virginia Tech especially given the fact that he still plans to take an official visit.

Given the extremely high number of commitments we've seen this cycle, just about every expert expects a massive number of decommitments. This is likely to be the case even more for recruits who committed to schools they haven't visited yet with Tech losing commitments from Martin and Latrell Neville in recent weeks, both of whom hadn't visited VT previously.

Martin should remain a top defensive tackle target along with four-star in-state DT Tyleik Williams, who plays at the high school as former Tech stars Ryan Williams, Greg Stroman, Tim Settle, and Reggie Floyd. Additionally, three-star Delray Beach, FL DT Earl Miller has been rising on VT's board with the Hokies among those standing out for him.

We will have more on this story as it develops.
