Four-star WR Alex Taylor out of Greensboro, NC may not have a formal "top 4" but he does have 4 schools emerging as a top 4 at the moment, all of whom are receiving official visits.
Virginia Tech is among the current top 4 schools for four-star WR Alex Taylor along with Clemson, NC State, and North Carolina. Taylor also added that Penn State and Florida are other schools that he is still actively considering at the moment.
He had this to say about why the Hokies are among his current top 4.
"It's a school I love, they have been there’s since the beginning, and they are rebuilding, but I loved what I saw when I was there," Taylor said.
As stated above, Taylor does have four official visits at the following dates.
- Clemson: June 2nd-4th
- Virginia Tech: Surrounding June 7th
- NC State: June 16th-18th
- North Carolina: June 23rd-25th
It's important to note that Taylor's official visit to Virginia Tech is during the middle of the week due to the fact that he has a 7-on-7 tournament that he is competing in that weekend. Taylor will not be the only recruit taking an official visit to Virginia Tech based on intel we have received.
Taylor added that those top 4 schools are the ones recruiting him the hardest with WRs coach Fontel Mines leading Tech's pursuit of Taylor. The Greensboro standout had this to say about his relationship with Mines.
"It’s great, love his coaching style and him as an individual. He's great to be around and talk to as well," Taylor said.
Taylor being a priority WR target shouldn't come as a surprise after an impressive junior season during which he had 65 receptions for 1,034 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns. He also averaged over 15 yards per reception and over 64 receiving yards per game for the second-straight season so there's a proven track record with Taylor.
Looking ahead, Taylor told us that he is currently planning to make his commitment on July 29th and while he isn't sure exactly what his key factors will be, he said he will lean on "probably a gut feeling" in making his decision.
