Virginia Tech is looking to build on their thrilling double overtime victory against California but face a very tough matchup against a good No. 16 Louisville team that has ambitions to reach the ACC Championship and CFB Playoff.

The good news is that the Hokies are getting healthier in a lot of areas except the defensive backfield.

Questionable

  • TE Harrison Saint Germain

Out

  • S Quentin Reddish
  • CB Jojo Crim
  • CB Caleb Brown
  • CB Joshua Clarke
  • WR Keylen Adams
  • WR Chanz Wiggins
  • RB Braydon Bennett
  • TE Zeke Wimbush
  • OL Montavious Cunningham
  • OL Brody Meadows
  • DE James Jennette
  • DE Sherrod Henderson
  • DT Andrew Hanchuk
  • WR LJ Booker
  • WR Joseph Hobbs

One player who is not on this list for the first time this season is highly-touted true freshman RB Jeff Overton Jr, who arrived in Blacksburg after suffering a major injury during his senior season of HS football.

However, Overton is now good to go and can play out the stretch of the season without having to worry about burning his redshirt. While Marcellous Hawkins and Terion Stewart should continue to lead this RB room, it'll be interesting to see if Overton gets a few touches to show what he's capable of.

Jaden Keller was a game-time decision last week but did play and unsurprisingly was not on the availability report this week. However, his LB role has shrunk with Kaleb Spencer and Noah Chambers both impressing over the past few weeks.

Harrison Saint Germain is the only player whose status remains up in the air. Saint Germain has been out for weeks now but his return would provide a much-needed boost in depth behind Benji Gosnell. Though Saint Germain has been the top backup TE in the past, he will likely have his work cut out to reclaim that role given the play of Ja'Ricous Hairston.

Tech's wide receiver corps continues to get healthier with Keylen Adams and Chanz Wiggins being the only scholarship absences at this point. Given the fact that both haven't played yet this season, it's fair to wonder if we will see either of the former 2024 four-star recruits or if both players are headed for medical redshirts.

The one room that is losing depth is the secondary with true freshman CB Jojo Crim out after appearing to suffer an injury last week given his very limited snaps. Isaiah Brown-Murray and Thomas Williams will lead the cornerback room but the depth gets problematic quickly with Krystian Williams and Jahmari DeLoatch being among the next options to provide a break for the top two. Joseph Reddish could also receive some more outside CB snaps because of this injury too.

Montavious Cunningham remains out with redshirt freshman Aidan Lynch sliding into the lineup at right tackle and Tomas Rimac sliding inside to guard once again.
