On Monday morning, it was reported by Andrew Riedell of College Baseball Central that Virginia Tech freshman arm Jake Marciano has entered the transfer portal.
BREAKING: LHP Jake Marciano has entered the transfer portal I’ve been told. He will have three years of eligibility left.

Marciano had a breakout freshman season in 2025, where he threw 60.2 innings with a 6.08 ERA and 71 strikeouts. He is one of the two most high-profile portal departures for the Hokies along with starting first baseman Garrett Michel.
He was well in line to be a weekend starter for the Hokies for the 2026 season, likely in either a similar Saturday role or a Sunday role with Brett Renfrow holding down Fridays and Griffin Stieg set to return from injury.
This loss will send the Hokies searching for a new weekend starter, whether that be from in house or from the portal.
A couple in-house candidates could be Madden Clement or Chase Swift, though Logan Eisenreich could also be an internal name to watch if the Hokies can extend his stints longer next season.
We will have more as this story develops.
