Virginia Tech Makes the Top 12 for Four-Star LB Andrew Hines III

Defensive Huddle 4 VT ODU 2022 HT

Four-star LB Andrew Hines III out of Atlanta appears to be one of Virginia Tech's top targets at LB for the 2024 class with the Hokies recently receiving some good news that they made Hines' recent cut.

Virginia Tech was joined by Tennessee, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Nebraska, Wake Forest, Duke, Missouri, West Virginia, Illinois, California, and Harvard in his top 12. Among the Power 5 offers not to make the cut for Hines were Arkansas, Georgia Tech, Mississippi State, Louisville, Maryland, UCF, Minnesota, Boston College, Vanderbilt, and Virginia.

Hines had this to say about why the Hokies made his top 12.

"It has a great history of football. There is an opportunity to join and have a sooner rather than later impact. Equally important is their technology programs are really good," Hines said. "It has been great communicating with the coaches. Looking forward to a visit."

Head coach Brent Pry, defensive coordinator/LBs coach Chris Marve, and Sam LBs/nickels coach Shawn Quinn are in regular contact with Hines. He has this to say about his relationship with Chris Marve.

"It’s very good. We talk often and we talk about potentially going up there on a visit," Hines said.

He had this to say about his relationship with Shawn Quinn who is one of VT's area recruiters as well in Georgia due in part to his ties there from his time as the head coach at Savannah State.

"We have a good relationship. He was the one I started talking to first (from VT)," Hines said.

He had this to say about his relationship with Brent Pry.

"My relationship with Coach Pry is pretty good," Hines said. "Coach Pry is a cool guy."

It shouldn't come as a surprise Hines has received significant Power 5 interest that has continued following a strong junior season where he had 54 tackles including 11 for loss with 5 sacks plus 1 interception, 1 pass breakup, and 1 forced fumble for Atlanta's Woodward Academy.

Virginia Tech is off to a solid start in their recruitment of four-star LB Andrew Hines III with plenty of work ahead as they seek to beat out some tough competition to land one of their top 2024 linebacker targets.
