Four-star ATH Messiah Delhomme out of Newport News, VA has emerged as a consensus top 5 recruit in Virginia for the 2025 class and a top priority for Virginia Tech. The Hokies received good news from Delhomme on Friday as he included the Hokies in his top 6.
Beyond blessed and grateful to have this opportunity with that being said, it's about time to find out where's home #Top6 👀 #AGTG @BrianDohn247 @WillVapreps @MartyOBrienDP pic.twitter.com/la2IDz8Bqw

The Hokies were joined by Ohio State, Alabama, Maryland, Virginia, and Syracuse in Delhomme’s top 6. Plenty of Power 4 programs missed the cut for Delhomme including Michigan, Florida State, Penn State, NC State, Auburn, West Virginia, and more.
Delhomme has been a dominant player on both sides of the ball during his high school career, but is being recruited as a safety first by most schools including the Hokies. His work as a DB has been particularly good with eight interceptions each of the past two seasons proving to be the type of playmaking ballhawk that any team would want at safety.
Per his 247 Sports recruit page, Delhomme is set to take an official visit to Virginia Tech this weekend followed by trips to Virginia, Ohio State, and Maryland in that order. Those four schools seem like the most serious contenders with both Alabama and Syracuse having work to do to get on his official visit schedule, though Bama is obviously a much bigger threat looming in the background for now than Syracuse.
There’s no doubt that Delhomme is a top overall defensive target for the Hokies with Tech having some serious traction. Getting the first official visit creates an opportunity for Tech to set the tone for the next month.
Ohio State will be a tough challenger, but we’ve seen the Hokies overcome the elite recruiting programs before including with four-star 757 WR Keylen Adams last year along with the Buckeyes failing to flip four-star S Quentin Reddish. No one will blame Tech for losing a recruit to Ohio State, but this is the type of battle and talent that the Hokies need to win some to make a sustained jump back towards the upper tier of the sport. In this case, I do believe the Hokies have a very legitimate shot here even with the Buckeyes involved.
Virginia Tech is right in the hunt for four-star ATH/DB Messiah Delhomme ahead of a big month of official visits for him starting this weekend in Blacksburg.
