One of Virginia Tech's top frontcourt targets in the 2024 class, four-star Nicolas Codie out of Texas, has released his top 7 with the Hokies making the cut.

Virginia Tech was joined by Texas, Auburn, Houston, Miami, LSU, and TCU in the top 7 for Codie. Plenty of notable offers did not make the cut for Codie including Kansas, Alabama, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Arizona State, California, and more.

He had this to say about why the Hokies made his top 7.

"I love the coaching staff, the vibe they give off, they make sure I know and feel like I'm a priority for them, and it's just a great program," Codie said.

A big reason for Tech's strong vind with Codie is assistsnt JD Byers who has built a strong relationship with him as he shared with us.

"It's real good. We talk a lot. He always asks about the games and telling me he's hearing I'm doing good," Codie said.

Codie has seen his recruitment explode over the past few months with most of his offers coming since the start of April. Additionally, he has taken off in the recruiting rankings with all 4 recruiting services ranking him the top 60 nationally in the 2024 class.

He has some great athletic lineage as Nicolas Codie is the son of former NFL DB Nakia Codie. Nicolas' father is also a North Carolina native so there are some regional ties that could help the Hokies overcome the proximity issue they have relative to the rest of his top 7.

The Hokies are right in the hunt for four-star PF Nicolas Codie with the next objective being to get him on campus for an official visit this fall.
