There has been a massive influx of young, European talent to college basketball over the past couple years including many players who are coming to the U.S. having played in the European pro leagues for a few years prior. That trend has now reached Virginia Tech, as the Hokies have landed a commitment from German center Antonio Dorn.

The 7'0'' Dorn comes to Virginia Tech from German second tier team Kircheim after averaging 9.1 points and 4.5 rebounds in 18.3 minutes per game while shooting an insane 67.5% from the field last season. It is unclear how much eligibility Dorn will have, but it will not be a full four years of eligibility from what I've been told due to Dorn's advanced age, as he is set to turn 22 next month.
Dorn is a fascinating prospect who brings unique professional experience that should have him more than ready to come in and immediately make an impact for the Hokies. With Tobi Lawal likely returning (instead of staying in the NBA Draft) and Amani Hansberry transferring in from West Virginia, Dorn likely will be the top backup big man for the Hokies this season.
His size will be able to add some more versatility at times for the Hokies to defend bigger opponents while he is also appears to be an advanced, interior scorer given his impressive shooting efficiency.
With Dorn on board, the focus for the Hokies in the transfer portal certainly shifts to the wing and the backcourt while just adding further depth up and down the roster as a whole. The addition of Dorn now gives the Hokies 10 players for next season with five roster spots still open.
