Virginia Tech's 2023 high school offensive line class is mostly done, but Virginia Tech is looking to finish it off with one of the Mid-Atlantic's top offensive lineman in three-star OL Kamen Smith.
Smith recently released his top 4 and set his decision date as well in the process.

The Hokies made the top 4 for Smith along with N.C. State, North Carolina, and South Carolina with his decision coming this Sunday, July 10th. This comes as Smith had 16 offers according to Rivals with in-state schools Wake Forest, Duke, and Appalachian State among the most notable schools to miss the cut.
Smith broke out late this spring and received loads of offers quickly including one from Virginia Tech. The Hokies hosted him on an unofficial visit in mid-May that went well as he shared with us followed by a return trip to Blacksburg for an official visit on the second weekend of June. Smith also took officials to N.C. State and North Carolina after that with Smith having taken a pair of unofficial visits to Raleigh and 1 to Chapel Hill earlier in 2022.
While no school should be ruled out when the list is this short, this seems like a battle between the three ACC schools with South Carolina looking like the long shot having not hosted him on an official.
The Wolfpack and Hokies appear to be the favorites though UNC shouldn't be ruled out generally speaking in most in-state recruitments that they are heavily involved in. N.C. State may be the slight favorite given how they have been recruiting him longer than any other of the finalists for him including relative to their in-state competition with the Wolfpack having the home state advantage compared to VT and South Carolina.
Tech definitely has traction here though and is a serious contender with OL coach Joe Rudolph being a big reason for that. Rudolph has a reputation for offering only a few offensive linemen and then landing his top targets at a high rate which he has done again this most cycle holding off some strong competition for his 4 2023 commits including four-star OT Layth Ghannam.
Kamen Smith's decision is almost here with the Hokies right in the hunt against ACC rivals looking to beat out the Wolfpack and Tar Heels plus the Gamecocks for the Wilkesboro, NC standout.
