Virginia Tech Offers Fast-Rising 2024 TE Amir Jackson

VT Corps 2 VT Miami 2022 HT

Virginia Tech has sent out a few new offers to 2024 tight end recruits this week including fast-rising Amir Jackson out of Portal HS in Portal, GA.

Jackson had this to say about his reaction to receiving a VT offer.

"

The Hokies are one of four Power 5 schools to offer him over the past week along with Florida State, Florida, and Kentucky.

The conversation he had as a whole with a pair of Tech's assistants went well as he told us.

"It was good overall. I talked about lots of things with (offensive coordinator/TEs) Coach (Tyler) Bowen and (nickels/sam LBs) Coach (Shawn) Quinn," Jackson said.

This shouldn't come as a surprise after he was a two-way playmaker for his high school this past season with some good stats as he shared with us.

"Offensively, I had 22 receptions for 430 yards, and 4 touchdowns plus a kick return (TD). Defensively, I had 48 solo tackles and 23 assisted for a total of 71 tackles, 2 forced fumbles, and an interception," Jackson said.

Now Tech is recruiting him as a tight end, but it's clear that he may have some upside on defense if things on offense don't work out for him. Also, it's not often that you see a tight end prospect who had a kick return TD as a junior in high school which says a lot about the athletic upside he has as a receiving TE.

Looking ahead, Jackson told us that Virginia Tech is among the schools that he is planning or looking to visit along with Florida State, Florida, Troy, and UAB.

So with all that said, how does this offer impact Jackson's recruitment and where VT stands in it?

"It impacts it a pretty good bit being I only have a couple of SEC offers and VT is my first ACC one," Jackson said prior to receiving his second ACC offer from FSU.

Keep an eye on fast-rising TE Amir Jackson who the Hokies are an early contender for as his recruitment starts to take shape.
