Three-star ATH Kameron Courtney out of Manassas, VA has emerged as one of Virginia Tech's top safety targets for the 2024 class in recent weeks. The good news for the Hokies is that they have a lot traction with Courtney.
The in-state standout told us that Virginia Tech is "definitely pretty high on the board" currently in his recruitment. He had this to say abut why that is the case.
"They show lots of love, and check up on me and the family. And I also like what they’re doing with the program and how I could fit there," Courtney said.
As mentioned above, Courtney feels he would be a good fit in Virginia Tech's defense and had this to say about why that's the case.
"I think because I got their scheme well, and I’m a physical player who can go and cover and play in the box," Courtney said.
Virginia Tech is in regular contact with Courtney with Northern Virginia area recruiter Shawn Quinn and safeties coach Pierson Prioleau leading the charge for the Hokies in his recruitment. He had this to say about his relationship with former Super Bowl champion Pierson Prioleau.
"It’s good. He tells me about playing safety and things like that because he actually used to play it in the NFL and we’re around the same size so he tells me how he would play certain things," Courtney said.
He had this to say about his relationship with Shawn Quinn.
"It’s also good. We don’t really talk about football stuff that much because he coaches a different position, but he still checks up on me and asks how the family’s doing and things like that," Courtney said.
It doesn't take long to see how Virginia Tech has emerged as one of the stronger contenders in Courtney's recruitment. However, they are far from the only contender with North Carolina and Indiana also in good position with both of those schools having official visits scheduled in June.
As recruitments in the 2024 class begin to enter their later stages, Virginia Tech has put themselves right in the hunt for three-star ATH Kameron Courtney out of Northern Virginia.
