Kyron Drones didn't win Virginia Tech's starting quarterback job out of camp last year, but once he got his opportunity when Grant Wells went down with an injury, the Baylor transfer seized it. In the process, he developed as an upper tier ACC QB who enters 2024 as one of the best quarterbacks in the country east of the Mississippi after throwing for 17 touchdowns, three interceptions, and 2,085 passing yards while running for 818 yards and five touchdowns with an average of 4.9 yards per carry.
Those numbers were quite impressive especially for a quarterback who didn't start till week 3 and started out in an offense that didn't seem set up to fully maximize his abilities.
His impressive 2023 has led to massive praise from across the country entering into the 2024 season. However, Drones still feels he has a whole lot more to do and reminds himself that he has only had one good season.
