After Gavin Cross made Hokie history as the highest-selected player in Virginia Tech Baseball history at 9th overall in the 2022 MLB Draft, star shortstop Tanner Schobel made more history near the end of the opening day of this year's MLB Draft.

Tanner Schobel was selected 68th overall by the Minnesota Twins in the 2022 MLB Draft, becoming Tech's ninth highest draft pick in program history and the highest shortstop selected out of VT surpassing Chad Pinder who was selected 71st overall in the 2023 MLB Draft.

Schobel and Gavin Cross are also the first Hokie duo to be selected in the top 100 of the same MLB Draft with the previous highest-drafted pair being SP Ian Seymour (57th overall) and C Carson Taylor (130th overall) in the 2020 MLB Draft.

We will have more as this story develops.
