The games are set for the first Men's ACC/SEC Challenge with Virginia Tech headed to the plains this November.

Virginia Tech will travel to the plains of Alabama to take on Auburn at 9:15pm on Wednesday, November 29th. This is the first time since 1999 that these two teams have faced off with the Hokies having a 2-5 all-time record versus the Tigers.

Auburn is the second SEC team that the Hokies will face in non-conference as the Hokies will face South Carolina in a neutral site game in Charlotte earlier on in November. The Hokies are also taking part in the 2023 Orlando Invitational in a field that includes 2023 Final Four team Florida Atlantic, Penn State, Texas A&M, Iowa State, Butler, VCU, and Boise State.

The Tigers should present a great early season test for the Hokies as the Tigers who return 3 of their top 5 scorers from last season. Tech's revamped frontcourt led by Robbie Beran, Mekhi Long, Tyler Nickel, and Lynn Kidd will face a tough test against Auburn star Johni Broome who averaged 14.2 points, 8.4 rebiunds, and 2.4 blocks per game last season.

The Hokies' backcourt led by Hunter Cattoor and Sean Pedulla will be key in this game against an Auburn backcourt that returns veteran KD Johnson but will have a lot of new faces and guys taking on larger roles including five-star freshman Aden Holloway.

This will also be a tough road environment that can help the Hokies prep for the ACC schedule ahead. Both of these programs are also traditional football schools that have great resurgences over the past decade with Mike Young bringing VT their first ACC Basketball Tournament title and Auburn reaching the 2019 Final Four under Bruce Pearl.
