Virginia Tech WR Jayden Anderson has entered the transfer portal according to multiple reports, with On3's Pete Nakos being first to break the news.
Anderson just arrived this offseason after a standout career at 757 power Green Run HS, but will not even be part of the Hokies' roster for a single game in the end. It is unclear right now what led to Anderson's decision to leave the program prior to playing a game for them.
It appears that Anderson has also received the 'Designated Student-Athlete' label which would allow him to enter the transfer portal during a special one month window that runs for most of July. This is something that was a late addition to the House Settlement to get it approved when Judge Claudia Wilken raised questions about the proposed roster limits. If that is the case that he has that tag, he will have that tag for the rest of his collegiate career and will not be subject to roster limits at any point in the future.
Anderson has all four years of eligibility plus a redshirt year remaining.
This is a disappointing loss for the Hokies given that he is only a true freshman. However, Anderson was not expected to push for playing time this season and VT also has three other WRs in their 2025 class with loads of potential in four-star recruits Shamarius Peterkin and Micah Matthews plus three-star Cameron Sparks. Three-star ATH Luke Stuewe also could end up at WR as well.
