Multiple Virginia Tech standouts are starting to come off the board on day 3 of the 2025 NFL Draft including WR Jaylin Lane, who has a short trip to his new NFL home.
Jaylin Lane was selected 125th overall in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft by the Washington Commanders. He is the second Hokie selected in the 2025 NFL Draft after Bhayshul Tuten was selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars earlier in the fourth round.
Lane heads to Washington after a very good five-year career at Middle Tennessee and Virginia Tech during which he had 203 catches for 2,532 yards and 18 touchdowns. During his two seasons at VT specifically, he had 79 catches for 1,004 yards and eight touchdowns plus 32 carries for 167 yards and two touchdowns. He’s also a dynamic punt returner who returned 24 punts for 245 yards and a touchdown.
Lanes impressive NFL Combine performance boosted his stock and made him a potential day 2 pick, though he ends up sliding to day 3. He could be an early impact player as a punt returner most likely while providing depth at WR. Getting to learn behind Deebo Samuel is also a great fit as Lane has a similar versatility to his game to that of Samuel.
