Virginia Tech Wrestling is set for a historic recruiting weekend unlike anything that I believe any athletics program at VT has had in the modern recruiting era, with the #1 overall recruits in the 2026 and 2027 classes visiting this weekend.

A source has confirmed to us that Bo Bassett, the #1 overall recruit in the 2026 class, and Melvin Miller, the #1 overall recruit in the 2027 class, will both be visiting Virginia Tech this Friday when the No. 8 Hokies take on No. 9 Missouri. This comes after Bassett and Miller, who are brothers, visited Ohio State this past weekend.

Bassett projects as a 149 who could be the clear heir to Caleb Henson right in time for Henson’s career wrapping up while Miller projects at a 165 though given that he is still years away from the collegiate ranks, there is still time for that to change.

Virginia Tech has consistently been in the top 5-10 of the recruiting rankings throughout Tony Robie's tenure and have landed their fair share of top recruits in the country including guys like TJ Stewart and Jimmy Mullen in recent years.

Tech is absolutely a serious threat to land both Bassett and Miller, with Ohio State also in serious consideration and likely every elite program in the country involved.

Outside of wrestling, the last recruit under consideration to be the #1 overall recruit in his class that I can think of Tech being heavily involved with was 757 DE Josh Sweat who ended up at Florida State. This weekend is undoubtedly a massive opportunity for Tony Robie and his staff to make a big impression on two elite wrestling talents.

Virginia Tech has a history of landing elite recruits on the trail under Tony Robie and are looking to continue that with both Bassett and Miller.
