Redshirt junior defensive lineman Amaré Barno was repping the uniform on the team’s social media release. Through two weeks of the regular season, Barno sits second in the ACC with 3.5 tackles for loss, all coming against North Carolina on Sept. 3rd. He did record a start for the Hokies in last week’s matchup against Middle Tennessee on Sept. 11th.
In the release, the Hokies mention that this week’s uniform has that old-school uniform look; in past years, this combination has been seen as the primary road jersey.
The helmet has the classic design of the maroon color with the athletic, white VT logo found on both sides.
For the jersey, it has a similar design to last week’s “White Out” jersey. The majority of the uniform has a white layer, with maroon numbering and lettering on the front and back.
For the pants, the Hokies will be working with all maroon. We have not seen Virginia Tech wear maroon pants in the 2021 season with orange being worn against North Carolina and white being worn against Middle Tennessee.
The Hokies wore this combination on the road many times in 2020 and are hoping to start off their road portion of the schedule with a similar result as they defeated Duke 38-31 on Oct. 3 in their first road contest of the 2020 season.
