2022 four-star RB Tevin White joined a small group of recruits who have visited Virginia Tech during the COVID-19 dead period this week (Donovan McMillon and Shawn Asbury II are among the others). White may not have been able to interact in person with coaches or go inside team facilities due to restrictions, but his trip to Blacksburg went quite well as he told us.
"It was great. Obviously, I couldn’t go in to see the facilities or any coaches, but I really like the campus and Blacksburg as a whole," White said.
White was able to explore Virginia Tech's campus, and facilities from the outside with it leaving a solid impression on him.
"My father, mother, and I just drove around campus and saw the football field. Because of the virus, we can’t meet with Coaches or go into facilities," White said.
Tech's campus stood out a lot for White and especially the architecture of the buildings on campus, both old and new.
"Since I could only see the campus, what stood out to me was how the campus has both anold and new feel to it. I could tell VT has a lot of traditional and historic buildings, but also a lot of new and improved buildings," White said.
Overall, White's visit left a strong impact on him and helped push the Hokies higher up in his reruitment.
"It for sure moved VT higher up on my list of colleges, but I would still love to come back down to talk to coaches and for a visit," White said.
White also added that the Hokies are "near the top of my list of colleges" and had this to say about why that's the case.
"They are really interested in me and have kept in contact for a lot of my recruiting process, they're in VA, and teammate Shawn Asbury just committed to VT so it would be be nice to play with a teammate at the college level," White said.
It is still very early in the 2022 recruiting cycle, but it appears pretty clear that White and 757 four-star RB George Pettaway are likely to be among the top RB targets for Tech this cycle. With White, the Hokies will have to battle an impressive offer list full of other national powers, but Tech has positioned themselves well early on.
Virginia Tech is right there in the hunt for Tevin White with Tech rising in his recruitment even if White wasn't able to spend time with coaches in person.
