Virginia Tech Women's Basketball has made a pair of transfer additions this offseason in Purdue guard Sophie Swanson and Texas Tech forward Kilah Freelon. However, the Hokies still have a big hole on their roster at their biggest need: center.
With Rose Micheaux graduating and both Ramiya White and Myah Hazelton transferring, the Hokies were left with a significant gap at the five. So far, VT has missed on their top center targets including Bucknell's Ashley Sofilkanich (committed to Michigan) and LSU's Aalyah Del Rosario (committed to Vanderbilt).
Incoming 6'3'' freshmen Amani Jenkins and Aniya Trent are currently the only players taller than 6'1'' on the Hokies' roster for next season. While Jenkins and Trent are an intriguing prospects, the Hokies desperately need to find a starting center or may be stuck using a combination of Freelon, Kayl Petersen, and Carys Baker at center.
There's no doubt that the Hokies still need to add a college-experienced center who could at least take a decent chunk of 10-15 minutes per game next season.
So with that in mind, let's take a look at some names who could make sense including one who I've heard linked with the Hokies.
Wisconsin's Serah Williams
Serah Williams' name is on here only because she hasn't made a decision yet. The odds of Williams landing at Virginia Tech are probably less than 0.1%.
However, if somehow Williams slides past teams like LSU and the price comes down, Tech would be wise to take a big swing. She is dynamic center who would an instant all-conference standout after averaging 19.2 points, 9.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 2.3 blocks, and 1.1 steals in 32.0 minutes per game. Williams is a bonafide star, but there's no indication that Virginia Tech has any chance here unless a mega donor gets a big check for Megan Duffy to go give the Hokies a chance.
